Privacy Notice

MOSHELL Linux runs in your browser. This notice describes what the site stores on your device, and what leaves the device when you buy something or when analytics runs.

No account for the free lab

Lessons 01–06 open without an email address or a password. MOSHELL Linux does not run a user account system for the free sandbox.

Saved in this browser

The lab stores lesson progress and badges in this browser’s local storage, under names such as mlp-progress and moshell-badges. NETRUN and the trivia challenge save their own progress the same way. That information stays on your device. Clearing site data for moshellinux.com deletes it.

When Pro is unlocked, the browser stores a flag named moshell_pro_unlock. The license key itself is not kept in that flag.

License check

If you paste a license key, the page sends that key and the MOSHELL Pro product id to Gumroad at api.gumroad.com so Gumroad can say whether the purchase is valid. Gumroad’s own privacy policy covers what they do with that request.

Payments

The workbook, MOSHELL Pro, and the NETRUN walkthrough are sold on Gumroad. Gumroad collects the email, the payment, and the receipt. MOSHELL Linux does not receive your card number.

Analytics

The pages load Google Analytics, measurement ID G-3ZT815QEJS. Google may set a cookie and receive the page address, a general location, and browser and device details. You can limit that in your browser’s cookie settings, or with Google’s Analytics opt-out.

What this site does not do

MOSHELL Linux does not sell personal information. The free sandbox does not ask you to create an account.

Children

The lab is written for adults and older students learning system administration. It is not directed at children under 13.
