Linux practice that lives in this tab.

I built MOSHELL because pausing a YouTube tutorial to copy commands is a terrible way to learn a shell. Six lessons are free. The rest unlocks with a license key from Gumroad.

SSH hacking simulator NETRUN Break into a network of servers through real misconfigurations: default credentials, weak SSH, SUID binaries and a rogue cron job. Then switch sides and harden every box. Two tracks, mission based. A full walkthrough is included in MOSHELL Pro, or $5 on its own. Open NETRUN Linux trivia challenge 100 Questions Everything from Lesson 01 to Docker. VirtualBox notes

The recommended setup for following every MOSHELL lesson. It uses VirtualBox and Ubuntu Server, both free and beginner friendly.

1
Download VirtualBox
Get the latest VirtualBox from virtualbox.org. It is free and works on Windows, macOS and Linux. Install with the default settings.
2
Download Ubuntu Server ISO
Get Ubuntu Server LTS from ubuntu.com. Use the Server edition, not Desktop. It is lighter and makes you work in the CLI, which is how real servers operate.
3
Create the VM
In VirtualBox: New → name it moshell-lab → Linux / Ubuntu 64-bit. Assign at least 2048 MB RAM and a 20 GB virtual disk. Leave everything else as default.
4
Attach ISO and Install
Settings → Storage → attach the .iso as a virtual CD. Boot and follow the Ubuntu installer. Accept the defaults. When asked about partitioning, choose Use an Entire Disk.
5
Configure Network Adapter
NAT is the default and gives internet access. Bridged gives the VM its own IP on your LAN. Host-Only is an isolated network between host and VM. For multi-VM labs, use Host-Only or Internal Network. Lesson 09 covers this in full.
6
Take a Snapshot
Before anything else: Machine → Take Snapshot, named clean-install. Always snapshot before destructive exercises. Breaking your VM is part of learning. Restore it and try again.
7
First Commands to Run
After the first boot, run sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y to update packages. Then run ip a to confirm networking. You are ready to start Lesson 01.

From people who bought it

"This is a great resource for anyone looking to learn Linux from the ground up and build practical system administration skills. The lessons are well organized, easy to follow, and the lab workbook makes it much easier to practice what you learn instead of just reading about it. I especially appreciate the step-by-step approach, which makes the material approachable even for someone who is still developing their Linux skills. Overall, MOSHELL provides a solid combination of instruction and hands-on practice. I would definitely recommend this bundle to beginners or anyone looking to strengthen their Linux and sysadmin knowledge. Great value and a very useful learning resource!"

Who’s behind this

Fab (KingMo87)
LINUX & CYBERSECURITY INSTRUCTOR

I built MOSHELL out of my own classroom experience, teaching Linux and cybersecurity fundamentals. I have developed a full course curriculum covering bash scripting, networking, systemd, and security tooling, with hands-on labs and quizzes, not just tutorials compiled from other sites. Like most developers today, I use AI tools as part of my workflow, but every lesson is written, tested, and refined by me.

MOSHELL teaches real Linux system administration: the terminal skills sysadmins, DevOps engineers, and security analysts use every day. It is built around a terminal-first philosophy. If you cannot do it in the shell, you do not really know it yet. I am hoping to help people learn it in a more approachable way through this platform.

The lessons cover everything from your first ls command all the way to deploying servers, configuring VMs, hardening networks, and automating with bash scripts. Each track is self-contained, hands-on, and built on the same commands used in production environments.

I am a solo developer building this on nights and weekends, with no team and no funding, just direct feedback from students who use it. The best way to learn Linux is to break it, restore the snapshot, and break it differently. That is what the VM is for.
